The grounding wire of the distribution box is not connected to the neutral wire

According to NEC Article 250, both the neutral and ground wires must be connected only in the main panel or at the first service disconnect. They should never be connected together downstream of the service equipment, such as in subpanels or other parts of the circuits. In a service equipment (main panel) and remote distribution panel (subpanel), the ground. A neutral bar connects neutral conductors and normally carries return current back to the supply source. These two conductors serve fundamentally different safety functions, even though they may sometimes connect. The discovery of a neutral and ground wire tied together in a wire nut within an electrical box is more than a curiosity — it's a red flag. This configuration, often encountered during DIY smart home installations or routine inspections, violates fundamental electrical safety principles and.
