Three-level distribution box with top inlet and bottom outlet

A three-level distribution box with a top inlet and bottom outlet efficiently manages electrical or fluid distribution across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, ensuring safety, control, and proper flow.

Structure and Levels

Primary Level (Top Inlet): The primary distribution box serves as the main entry point for power or fluid. In electrical systems, it typically contains isolating switches, main busbars, and metering systems. The top inlet allows incoming supply to enter safely, while the bottom outlet directs the flow to the secondary level.

These boxes are often rainproof and suitable for outdoor installation, ensuring durability and safety. Secondary Level (Intermediate Distribution): The secondary distribution box, or sub-distribution box, receives input from the primary level. It usually contains large three-phase circuit breakers or control devices.

The bottom outlet from the primary level feeds into this box, and it further distributes power or fluid to specific areas or equipment. These boxes often feature inner and outer doors, powder-coated exteriors, and rainproof tops for outdoor use. Tertiary Level (Final Distribution): The tertiary distribution box, also called a switch box, is the final junction for individual devices or appliances.

It can be movable or fixed and typically contains single-phase breakers or leakage protection switches. The bottom outlet from the secondary box supplies this level, ensuring that each device receives controlled and protected input. This level is crucial for safety, as it is the last point before the end-use equipment.

Top Inlet and Bottom Outlet Configuration

Top Inlet: Allows gravity-assisted entry of fluid or electrical supply from the main source, reducing backflow and facilitating inspection or maintenance. Bottom Outlet: Ensures controlled distribution to lower levels or connected devices, maintaining proper flow and pressure in fluid systems or safe electrical routing in power systems.

Materials and Installation

Distribution boxes are commonly made from high-density polyethylene or other non-corrosive materials for durability, lightweight handling, and resistance to environmental factors. They often include twist-lock seals, anti-flotation collars, and secure lids to prevent tampering or accidents. Installation requires proper trenching or mounting to align inlet and outlet elevations, ensuring smooth flow and compliance with local codes.

Applications

Construction Sites: Temporary power distribution with multi-level protection. Residential or Commercial Buildings: Stepwise distribution from main transformer to individual units. Wastewater or Fluid Systems: Gravity-fed distribution with controlled outlets for equal flow to multiple channels.

This configuration ensures efficient, safe, and controlled distribution across all levels, with each level providing specific protection and management for the connected devices or systems.
